Dental Insurance coverage is a contract between the member and the insurance carrier. In most cases, the terms of coverage are negotiated between the patient’s employer and the insurance carrier. The terms of coverage are fixed by this agreement, and the dentist nor the dental profession have any part in this process. The benefits paid by the plan adhere to the terms of the contract between the plan and the member.
We feel that dental insurance can be a great benefit for many patients and want you to know we will strive to optimize the use of your dental benefits. However, the treatment we recommend will always be based on your individual need, not your insurance coverage.
The Canadian Dental Association continues to recommend a complete check -up and hygiene services every six months, with annual x-rays. Regular cleanings must be undertaken to maintain optimum gum health, ideally on a six-month basis, although some patients will require more frequent visits. Dental health is imperative to our overall health and at Pearl Dental Care we work hard to provide you with the insurance solutions that you may need by working with a variety of companies.
Insurance companies that we work with include Sun Life Insurance, Manulife Dental Insurance, Empire Life Dental, Equitable Life Insurance, Co-Operators Insurance, Union Local 183, Toronto Transit Commission, Ontario Teachers Dental Plan (OTip), Green Shield & Great West Life.
Each plan is unique to each patient, so once your coverage is confirmed, we will strive to optimize your benefits. However, it is very important that you know your benefits before coming in.
We will happily accept payment directly from the insurance company whenever possible and submit claims electronically whenever possible.
We also have dental programs in place for students at college and universities across Toronto and surrounding cities. Students attending Sheridan College, Humber College, University of Toronto Mississauga (UTM), McMaster University, Seneca College, Niagara College, Centennial College, University of Waterloo, and University of West Ontario London choose Pearl Dental Care as their preferred provider to access their student dental coverage.
